This Directory provides a listing and review of gas sensor research and development activities at UK universities during the period 1999 to late 2002. It identifies the various groups and key workers, provides contact details and summarises their recent and prevailing R&D activities, including the gas species studied. In addition, data are provided on group size, sources of funding and recent industrial collaborations. Summary information on the structure of the research activity, collaborations and commercial exploitation, the gas species, sensing techniques and technologies and the journals are included in five appendices and the document concludes with a list of about 180 references.
