Thursday 26th June 2025 – IWM Duxford, Cambridgeshire
Join us for our next meeting on the topic of ‘Staying Safe – Defence, Security and Space’. We meet at the excellent Imperial War Museum in Duxford and have free access to their museum over lunch.
A fascinating range of talks includes plenary speakers Atle Honne from SINTEF gas monitoring in the International Space Station, and Billy Wallace from NASA the history and future of atmospheric monitoring in space flight. We have been trying to persuade speakers to talk to us about this topic for years so I am especially looking forward to hear these talks. Further talks are promised covering gas analysis on submarines by Nathan Stevenson of Analox. A speaker from Draeger will talk about their work in the field and Licia Dossi from Cranfield University will present new technology for identifying threats in security applications. Charlie Cummings from Qinetiq will discuss enclosed space atmosphere monitoring with a recent case study. Finally our long-standing member Rob Newbury offers an interesting perspective on micro-sized companies operating in the defence sector.
It promises to be a great day and we are indebted to Charlie Cummings of Qinetiq for joining the committee to help us bring together this programme.
Book now to secure your place and I look forward to seeing everybody there.
