Thursday 26th June 2025 – IWM Duxford, Cambridgeshire

The prestigious Imperial War Museum at Duxford in Cambridgeshire was the venue for a highly successful meeting on ‘Staying Safe – Defence, Space & Security’. This featured an excellent array of international speakers brought together for the event by committee member Charlie Cummings of Qinetiq.
The programme offered fascinating insights into a rarely discussed field and included contributions from Sintef, NASA, QinetiQ and Draeger. The day featured talks on numerous applications such as the history and future of atmospheric monitoring in space flight, including on the International Space Station; gas detection in modern naval submarines, and the identification of threats in security scenarios. There was also an interesting perspective on micro-sized companies operating in the defence sector.
Attendees additionally benefited from free access to the world-class IWM exhibits during the lunch interval, further enhancing another interesting and informative event in the best traditions of GASG.
Members will shortly be able to read a full report of the day in the upcoming newsletter and can access the presentations here (subject to publication approval). We also hope to make some recordings available in due course.
